Zagreb is the capital city as well as economic and social center of the Republic of Croatia. It is located at the foot of the southern slopes of Medvednica at a height of 122 m above the sea. Zagreb stretches along the northern and southern banks of the Sava River and administratively includes 72 urban settlements and 17 city districts.

Novi Zagreb encompasses the area of two city districts, namely Novi Zagreb Istok (East) and Novi Zagreb Zapad (West). Novi Zagreb is located south of the Sava River and covers a wide area in the southern part of the city of Zagreb. On its west side, Novi Zagreb includes the urban settlements of Lanište, Kajzerica, Remetinec, Siget, Savski gaj, Trnsko, Trokut, Blato, Botinec, Podbrežje, Tromostovlje and Sveta Klara, as well as the suburbs of Donji Čehi, Gornji Čehi, Hrašće Turopoljsko, Hrvatski Leskovac, Ježdovec, Lučko, Mala Mlaka, Odra. The eastern part of Novi Zagreb includes the urban settlements of Dugave, Hrelić, Jakuševec, Sloboština, Sopot, Središće, Travno, Utrina and Zapruđe and the suburban towns of Buzin and Veliko Polje. In line with the general development of Zagreb, Novi Zagreb is also developing spatially and infrastructurally, which contributes to the increase in the number and general quality of real estate in Novi Zagreb.
